主要な学術上の業績

　　鈴木啓介氏は、生理活性天然有機化合物の全合成、および、基礎的な合成反応の開発研究を行いました。自然界の生理活性化合物の中には、入手源などの制約から稀少なものもあります。その場合、有機合成による供給が期待されますが、複雑な構造を持つ化合物の場合には容易ではありません。鈴木氏は、従来困難であった多くの不斉中心や官能基を持つ化合物の合成を、新たな合成反応の開発や合成経路の設計により実現してきました。反応開発では高反応性化学種を活用し、斬新で有用な分子構築法や立体制御法の開発につなげた一方、合成研究では糖質やテルペン、ポリケチドなどの生合成の異なる構造が複合化した標的に関し、数々の全合成を実現しました。
